About Disney and Dali's Destino:

"In 1946, surrealist Salvador Dali formed an unlikely friendship with Walt Disney and they spent a short time collaborating on a short film called Destino. Unfortunately, only 18 seconds of Destino were ever shot, but in 1999, Roy Disney reconstructed the entire short using computer rendering and hand-drawn imagery based on the original sketches and storyboards."

Short Film - The Ear starring Pharrell Williams

"Inspired to Gogols short story entitled "The Nose" from The Petersburg Tales director, Yi Zhou has written her latest short film about the absurd story of the loss of an ear. The ear is actually the key element of the film, shot in RED and partly to be made in 3d animation.

Throughout the film, the ear and inner ear as a whole turn themselves into an EarBrige as they get crossed by a bridge. The EarBridge is part of a public project proposal for Baku, Azerbaijan that includes a number of important international contemporary artists."

This movie just opened in the Tdot, not sure if it playing in NYC. The premise, that the "remaining great singers and musicians of Jamaica's Golden Age of music, Rocksteady, come together after 40 years to record an album of their greatest hits, to perform together again at a reunion concert in Kingston, and to tell their story", is kind of like a reggae version of The Buena Vista Social Club.

The film, titled The September Issue, screens at Sundance this weekend. With seemingly unreal access, Cutler followed Anna and her team to Fashion Weeks around the world, to photo shoots, to visits with designers like Vera Wang and Nicolas Ghesquière. But mostly, they were in the Vogue offices. In this two-minute taste of the movie, we see scenes of Anna working in her office with her team."

A movie about a typeface?! Yes! Helvetica is one of the world's most widely-used, ubiquitous fonts and this movie explores its origins and impact from its late 50 European, modernist roots to the present day. I just watched this and it's a surprisingly engaging movie, although more so if you have an interest in design-related topics and themes.
