Art Beats and Lyrics: An Urban Art Exhibition

abl_site_flyer.gifIn Atlanta this Friday. Here are the details from an email newsletter I was a sent a couple days ago:

"What does an Illustrator from Atlanta - a DJ with a radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio, and the Mother of one of the most prolific producers in the Underground (RIP) all have in common? Well, lets break it down...

A few months ago, our very own Eric Nine was tapped to pen the artwork for a J Dilla mixtape being put together by Dj Rasta Root. The artwork was a depiction of the late producer and was done with a mixed medium of water color, hand drawn pencil, and digital artistry. The cover was so well received that Eric was invited to take part in what has become the mecca of all traveling urban art shows. We're talking about of course the Art Beats and Lyrics showcase. For those who may not know, this event is basically a showcase of some of the most respected artists from around the country held at an upscale venue like Atlanta's High Museum of Art (2008). The venue is set off by DJ's spinning music, B-boys through-out the building, and all centered around massive installations of the artists work for the viewing public to enjoy.

At this years AB+L event Eric will be making a presentation of this Dilla piece by way of a giant canvas print to none other than J Dilla's "Ma Dukes". Also in attendance will be Tribe Called Quest's Phife Dawg, Da La Soul, and countless familiar faces you'll see strolling the venue and hanging out with Atlanta's urban art connoisseurs. If your down with the urban art scene and want to rub shoulders with the Who's Who in the underground hip-hop scene then this is the place to be on Friday.

For more information on this years Art Beats and Lyrics event check out their website and make sure you come show your support for Vintage Limited's own Eric Nine. You'll even have the chance to catch a glimpse of NEW Vintage Limited designs in prototype stages and we'll be looking for your feedback. Also, Eric will be on hand with special discount codes on cards you can only get this weekend so be sure to ask when you see him.

We plan on taking footage and photo's of the nights festivities so if you can't make it or don't live near Atlanta we'll have coverage of the event on our blog. Stay posted for details and be sure to connect with us on Twitter and Facebook for more updates. See you at the show!"

Btw, I had a chance to visit this exhibition. Was pretty sceptic before going there, but then, after I have checked everything up - it was quite enjoyable, with tons of fresh ideas.
