I must inform you of the truth of Red Monkey Co.!!

RMC was recently started by a Hong Kong based Chinese guy who used to be the Hong Kong distributor for Evisu for a few years. During this time he got a hold of the suppliers for Evisu and started RMC. In other words, he’s attempting to basically copy Evisu.

His strategy is he pretends to be a Japanese guy making these great Japanese-originated jeans. But all he does is chuck on some “Japanese” designs onto the jeans he makes, which is in actual fact thrown together by a couple of Chinese amateur designers done on their spare time. Not even the Japanese people I know recognize the designs as Japanese. What is a “fun cat” anyway?

In a nutshell, how can a Chinese guy, who used to run a couple of shady stores in Hong Kong, now try to convince the world that the jeans company he somehow built is authentic Japanese??

The fact is RMC’s story is a complete farce. The designs are embarrassing. And due to the mismanagement of this “company”, let me be the first to say this: you will see this brand dwindle away, most probably back to the Hong Kong rat alleys where it all began...

You must avoid RMC, or the joke is on you.

RMC should stand for “Really Minging Clothes”.

Wow... thats crazy the little truth he shed on Red Monkey Jeans. Yea but I just wanted to state that the prices for these type of jeans are ridiculous purely insane. Yes I've bought them just to point at others and say "Hey look at you, you don't have Evisu Jeans or Red Monkey Jeans" but still it will probably be the only ones I ever choose to buy. It's most certainly not that I can't afford these highly expensive jeans its the fact that it shouldn't be so ludacris at price. Oh and yes indeed they have started bootlegging them in NY and even those bootleg prices are pricey. True Religion Jeans are the only real authentic way to go ;-D

You can tell evisu is real by the labels inside. They are usally on the left side of the jean, they say the size and have the buddah head on it. They also have a signiture label in the inside left pocket that should say "Indigo Genes Evisu Cree A Japon Unchangeable"

Actually manny there are a few other ways to tell if the evisu jeans are authentic. If you look inside the cuffs of the bottom of the pants legs the seam should come out in a butterfly pattern distinguishing them from a replica and an authentic. I should know because I've purchased wholesale and from authorized retailers. As for the red monkey jeans there is no real way to tell the difference as the are cheap copies of Evisu but the thread thing all depends on the style of that pants. Threads or no threads means nothing more than style it doesn't imply authenticity but personally I'd prefer them with the threads. It's a bit more "original".

The best way to tell a fake from the authentic Red Monkey jeans is to look for the serial number printed inside the jeans under the pocket. Also inside the jeans the pockets should have multiple Red Monkey logos printed on them.

Usually there are serial numbers inside the jeans somewhere. The quality of some fakes are just as good as authentic. I wear fakes because no one can tell and my wardrobe is raw.

I don't know what Frank's problem. He seems to be going around smearing RMC on every site from superfuture to here. So he got a hold of Evisu's suppliers? So what? That still means the jeans are constructed from high quality japanese denim with selvedge and all. If you check any Red Monkey site and store, they make no attempt to hide the fact that the product originates from China. And so what if he copies what Evisu is doing? How do you think Evisu started? They started making jeans using old shuttle looms that Levis sold in the 80's. That's how the fashion industry works. Everyone borrows from everyone else.

What Evisu has done my have been considered original in the 80's but in modern day his shuttle looms way is considered original but even if he did that in the 80's his designs and unique touch of art that he brings to just about all of his jeans are original. Also RMC stole designers and artist not people that know how to use a shuttle loom or even how to make one. Not only that but that art isn't even nearly as good even though I do like the one obscene picture with the naked bondage its hot but not nearly artistic as Evisu.

I just found this sight...! And it's cool and informative. Gold Star fo ya..! As far as Red Monkey I've seen ah bunch of cheap knock-offs out here in San Francisco. So I steered away from them. I own ah couple pair of Evisu Jeans but I wear those once in a blue moon. I mean you can't just rock ah pair of $600 jeans at the block party. But recently the boutique where I get my gear got in some Ciano Farmer and Artful doger gear. Man I just have to say that I love the jeans. The twisted Seams are sick, and the pocket embroidery is the cleanest I've seen thus far...I'm very fashion consence so I try to mix and match. But Ciano Farmer is killin it right now. I just got 2 hats that are sick. And kats aint up on this yet so man everybody always asking where I cop it from. But ah nig like me doesn't want to give wind to where I cop my gear.
